Yes, the extension is completely free. It uses a public API by default, but we also give you the option to connect your own Google Cloud API Key for professional-level usage.
QuickTranslate has no servers or databases. The text you translate is sent directly to Google's API and back to your browser. We do not keep history or track your activity.
It works on the vast majority of standard web text fields. If you can select the text you are typing, QuickTranslate can translate it instantly.
It detects when you are reading foreign content and automatically translates it to your native language (based on your browser's language or your extension's "From" setting).

No. The extension works immediately with a free API. You only need an API Key if you are a heavy user translating large volumes of text daily.
Currently, QuickTranslate is optimized for web pages. For PDFs opened in the browser, you can translate selected text, but the replacement function is not available due to PDF format restrictions.
