QuickTranslate ("the Extension") respects your privacy. This policy describes how we handle your information when you use our browser extension.

1. Data Collection

QuickTranslate does NOT collect, store, or share your personal information.

We do not have our own servers, user databases, or tracking systems. The extension operates entirely within your browser.

2. Use of Text for Translation

To perform its primary function, the extension must send the text you select to an external translation service.

• Default: Text is sent directly to the public Google Translate API. This data is processed solely to return the translation and is not linked to your identity.
• Custom Mode: If you configure your own API Key, text is sent to the Google Cloud API using your personal credentials, subject to Google Cloud's privacy terms.

3. Local Storage

The extension uses your browser's local storage (Chrome Storage) to save your configuration preferences:

• Selected source and target languages.
• "Dark Mode" preference.
• Favorite language pairs.
• Your custom API Key (if you choose to enter one).

This data never leaves your browser and is not accessible by us.

4. Permissions

The extension requests the minimum necessary permissions:

• activeTab: To read the selected text on the current page and replace it with the translation.
• storage: To save your settings.
• contextMenus: To show the "Translate selection" option in the right-click menu.
